This summer we again helped fund the HANDS TOGETHER/HEART TO ART program at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University. This summer day camp is for children ages 7-14, most from financially challenged circumstances, who have experienced the death of a parent. It is the only camp of its kind to use the arts to help children manage and positively channel their grief. Campers develop skills in acting, singing, juggling and stage direction, and rehearse and stage a final showcase performance for family and friends. Last summer a number of us attended this program and we were incredibly moved by these children and the selfless work of the camp staff.
